Windows SharePoint Services v3 (WSS 3.0).
- SharePoint Web Farm topology:
- Two Web Frontend servers.
- A dedicated AD/DHCP/DNS server.
- A dedicated SQL Server 2005 (Developer Edition) server.
- Servers are a mix of 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2.
- XMPP network: Google Talk.
- Users' operating system: Windows 7
- Instant messaging client: Psi.
MOSS 2007
-
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007).
- SharePoint Web Farm topology:
- Single-server.
- Local SQL Server 2005 (Express Edition) for IMAlerts database.
- 32-bit Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2.
- XMPP network: my private XMPP network (Openfire XMPP server on a remote VPS - Virtual Private Server).
- Users' operating system: OpenSolaris.
- Instant messaging client: Pidgin.
All servers, as well as Win7 and OpenSolaris users, are virtual machines running
on Sun xVM VirtualBox 3.0.8
, with OpenSUSE Linux 11.1
as the host OS.
As you can see, IMAlerts can be used on just about any SharePoint Web Farm.
